For more than 75 years, the Appraisal Institute has been the world's leading organization of professional real estate appraisers. The organization has led the way in fostering and promoting the highest standards of practice through its designation programs, peer review process, education, research, and publishing endeavors.

The Houston Chapter began in 1944. Selected as the "Outstanding Overall Large Chapter" in 2007, we are one of the leading chapters of the Appraisal Institute. Our growth mirrors that of the dynamic Houston market area which has grown from 44,633 in 1900 to the fourth largest city in the United States with a current city population of 2.2 million and a metropolitan area population of 5.7 million.
